Your Mind and Body Compared to Rusty Gears

Your Mind and Body Compared to Rusty Gears

Why Should You Stay Active?

Movement is a gift.

Find joy in what your body can do.

Strength will follow.

The advancements in technology today have us almost looking like the Disney Pixar movie "Wall-E" or maybe even ABC's 1962 "The Jetsons". Everything slowly becoming available at the touch of our finger tips. Everything brought to us from the comfort of our own home or wherever we may be. Now we've got AI technology learning how to "help" make people's lives easier by doing as much as it can for us. Humans are becoming less and less capable of being self-sufficient and honestly that's kinda scary. I don't know about you but I'm picturing "Wall-E" again and the people on their individual "helpful" hoverchairs. You know what I'm talking about.
There is plenty of scientific research out there that tells you why keeping your mind and body moving is so important. Visit the CDC website here https://www.cdc.gov/physical-activity-basics/benefits/index.html to read more details. Picture an abandoned mill down an old highway full of gears that once kept those machines running but now sit untouched and collecting dust and rust. Forgotten about years ago. Basically your mind and body do the same thing as you slowly begin to do and move less and less every year. You stop actually using your brain to problem solve for yourself and instead reach for that little handheld with all the world's answers at your fingertips. You stop moving as much because your stuck to a bright LED screen trying to catch the next 30 second dopamine fix. Saving all those DIY videos that you swear you're ganna do one day..
Now, I'm sure you could find an excuse or two as to why you "can't".  "I'm pregnant", "I've had surgery", "XYZ makes it really difficult", "I'm too depressed", etc. I get it. But I'm a "find a way" kinda gal. "Can't" is only stopping you because you're allowing it to. This is where the mind strength comes into factor. When you think "can't" your brain stops trying to problem solve, trying to find another way. Sometimes finding another way doesn't always look like what you expected, which plays a huge part in blocking the creativity in your mind. You have a certain mental image of how or what something should be like at the finish line, narrowing your thoughts like blinders on a race horse. You are not a race horse, you are a magnificent unicorn (or whatever other magical creature that gives you joy) I'm thinking Pegasus from Disney's "Hurcules" personally.
Whatever the case may be, there's always a way. I'm always telling my kids "Use your brain and problem solve. Take a breath then look at your situation and think". Taking that beat to catch a breath is a huge life hack. It works wonders, just try it. Now, are you ready to start the snowball affect to a better life, with baby steps? All it takes is that first push.
